Are there any of Jehova's Wittnesses here on the zone? Or do any of you have friends that are Jehova's Witnesses? I am wanting to be in contact with some of Jehova's Witnesses, and the only one I knew that was blind and used to talk to alot, was Jamin, who passed away several years ago. So I'm curious to knkow if t here are others out here?

Are JWs allowed to join the Zone or use the internet?

I'm not hostile to them anyway. People find it annoying when they knock on doors etc (something presumably blind JWs don't do because they don't know where they're going), but I think there are worse people who could visit you, like burglars.

Yes, they're allowed to use the internet. They aren't allowed to give blood, or have birthday parties, that kind of thing.
I love when they come to my door. They don't, I've sent a few away crying, but I have a grand old time.

I tend to just send them away, not always with the utmost politeness but usually not in anything resembling a dead run or crushed spirits. If they can't take an honest "No, I'm sorry, I'm not interested" as an answer, that's something I can't help, but I see no reason to have a grand old time, as it was so eloquently put, at someone else's expense that way. I'd no more do that to a Jehovah's Witness than I would do it to girl scouts or something. Everyone has causes; I don't have to like them or buy into them, but I usually owe it to myself to say nothing, if I can't say something nice. Way I figure it, if you detest JW that much and know it's them, somehow, just don't answer the door. That, or as soon as you know what they are, turn them away firmly but honestly.

To answer the OP's question, I don't know all the people here, by a long shot, but I don't know any witnesses here, not personally. And as was said, I'm pretty sure the internet is not taboo in itself.

My friend Bob sicked his dog on a JW guy when he wouldn't leave.

LOL. I've occasionally had them turn up on my doorstep. I just told them I'm not interested in their restrictive way oflife. LOL.

On a semi serious note, most people don't know this: if you ask them to leave and they don't, you can call the cops for a trespassing charge. This goes for walking evangelists of whatever persuasion, political campaign, or product / multilevel marketing scheme. Once you have said no, no is no, and they are trespassing if they stay around.

They all are.

Wow. Such hatred. I see no need for such rudeness and mean-spirited behavior towards JW. Sure they may be annoying, trying to talk to you into stuff you don't believe, but what good is being mean and hateful gonna do? What does it accomplish? If they won't leave,, , call the cops. Shut the door and ignore them.

I do not know all of what JW behavior is, but the ones I know are very nice people. I was just curious to know if there were any JW's in the blind world. I know there HAVE to be....since they offer several things in braille....but Jamin is the only one I knew, and he is gone now. :( Some JW's may be "weird" or overbearing, but if people really looked into what they are saying....makes a whole lot of sense.

Was just curious if any of the zoner's were witnesses.

The really hardcore ones don't believe in voting, showering, or going to school. I find it hard to be nice and respectful to anyone remotely associated with that sort of belief system.

Post 13 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Tuesday, 02-Jul-2013 13:47:06

* showering? Wow.

Post 14 by BryanP22 (Novice theriminist) on Friday, 05-Jul-2013 2:00:21

I can confirm that. The ones that showed up at my door had a certain fragrance about them LOL.

That's disgusting and should be outlawed.

Post 16 by Dolce Eleganza (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Sunday, 07-Jul-2013 18:10:22

Ok, I'm sorry but I must correct some thoughts here, since I came from a family who are still hard core JW's. First of all, it is true that they don't believe in voting, for their only comander is Jehovah. the one about not showering is false, they believe in being clean and having a clean appearence to give a good testimony about themselves. They don't celebrate birthdays because the bible has a story about a pharoh who cut a man's head on the princes's birthday and therefore, it's not a good celebration because jesus never did. And Christmass because Jesus wasn't born on the 25th, andyou name it. And regarding school they don't believe in long careers, they say that they're not the key to happiness, and that there's not time to focus on them because the end is near. And if someone fromyour family, like me, for instance, renounced being a jw none of them, including family can haveany contactwith you...

Uh huh. The end is near. People have been saying that for centuries.

Post 18 by SilverLightning (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Monday, 08-Jul-2013 8:50:24

Jesus never went around knocking on people's doors either, so tell them to knock it the fuck off.

LOL I know.

Someone I know recently mentioned tell them you were excommunicated. It takes a bit of research to find something they would consider an abomination worth getting the boot for.
But if Catholics are any indication, booting seems to be less of a common occurrence than it once was. He wrote a letter to Rome asking for excommunication and was denied or at least not answered.
I think your fundamentalist sects of most religions are probably the most capable now of extending the left foot, as it were.
